Production Shift Leader Retail 

The Production Shift Leader is responsible for managing and optimizing production processes to ensure the efficient processing of snacks. This role ensures that production is conducted in compliance with quality, cost, and food safety standards, while effectively managing resources and leading the production team.

Supervision of Production Activities:

  • Lead, manage, and supervise the production workforce to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure production meets the required quantity, quality, time, and cost specifications.
  • Optimize the use of resources, including raw materials, to enhance productivity.
  • Achieve daily production targets and ensure compliance with food safety and production standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to production specifications and operational procedures.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee production activities within the designated area.

Resource Management and Recordkeeping:

  • Enter production data into SAP daily and ensure alignment with physical stock levels.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of processing, extraction, and cleaning activities.
  • Monitor and report on stock levels of raw materials and semi-finished products.
  • Provide daily progress reports on production activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of files, forms, and records related to retail production.
  • Oversee the request, issuance, and reception of raw materials.
  • Ensure availability, cleanliness, and control of materials and equipment required for daily production, including raw materials, crates/trays/bins, and processing machines.

Hygiene, Health, Safety, and Security:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the production area.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to protect retail workers.
  • Ensure the security of the retail production facility.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Supervise and motivate immediate subordinates to meet production goals and maintain quality standards.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures to team members; consult with superiors or other departments as needed.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, identify training needs, and recommend or arrange for appropriate training and development.
  • Administer disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Superintendent – Production (Retail) in their absence.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Competencies & Qualitfication:

  • Higher National Diploma in Food Science or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in food processing or a similar industry
  • Leadership: Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Deadline Management: Capable of delivering work within tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to relate effectively to individuals and departments at all levels.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in using computer systems, including SAP and other relevant software.
  • Accountability: High level of reliability, integrity, and adherence to company policies and ethical standards.
