Employee development in the Master's programme

We build on knowledge for the future

HPW has been active in various African countries for more than 25 years. They all have one thing in common: we rely on local managers. In order to deepen this important aspect of our business model, we started a collaboration with Ashesi University in Ghana and ETH Zurich as part of the Masters programme 'Mechatronics Engineering'.

Local management is our best investment.

Highly qualified engineers from Africa for Africa - that is the idea behind driving sustainable industrial development in the region. We are pursuing the goal of creating value at the source - and this includes motivated and qualified decision-makers from Africa itself. We see great potential in the areas of production, technology and engineering in particular. The training and further education of our employees is therefore also a central element of HPW's successful work in Africa.

The programme for the next management generation

The training programme aims to develop the next generation of managers in Africa. With a focus on 'Mechatronics Engineering', selected students are introduced to production and automation knowledge. This Master's programme is a novelty, as members of the faculties of both universities Ashesi in Ghana
and ETH from Switzerland teach in tandem. This supports the transfer of knowledge between the two countries in both directions. The three-year programme takes place in Ghana and students receive a double degree from both universities.

Support through scholarships from strong partners

HPW is involved in the training programme as an industrial partner alongside 5 other well-known companies such as Bühler, Nestlé and ABB. Thanks to HPW, two selected students benefit from a full scholarship and are given the opportunity to start work in our production facilities immediately after graduation. Close mentoring by an HPW manager and internships in production allow the students to test the knowledge they have acquired in a working environment. Thanks to this collaboration, we look forward to utilising state-of-the-art knowledge in the production and engineering sector to strengthen our factories at origin and promote local talent.
