HPW supports STEM education in rural regions of Ghana
Promoting practical skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) is crucial to equip young people for the challenges of tomorrow.
At HPW Fresh and Dry Limited, we believe that education is the key to a better future. In particular, promoting real-world skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) is crucial to equip young people for the challenges of tomorrow.
We are therefore delighted to have entered into a strategic partnership with the educational organisation The Exploratory. Together, we want to give students in rural communities in Ghana access to modern, hands-on STEM education.
Our contribution to educational equality
As part of our collaboration, we are supporting the introduction of a STEM programme in ten primary schools in the Upper West Akim and Awutu Senya West districts. This initiative aims to provide schools in underserved areas with the necessary resources and training to make lessons exciting and hands-on.
Our measures include
- Workshops for teachers: Teachers are specifically trained to organise STEM lessons effectively and innovatively.
- Provision of materials: We provide schools with STEM resources such as teaching materials to enhance the learning process.
- Creation of STEM clubs: A club is set up in each participating school where students can develop their skills in science and technology.

A science fair full of innovations
A special highlight is the science fair at the end of the programme. Here, the students can present projects that they have developed during the programme. The aim is to identify challenges from their communities and present creative solutions to them. This fair not only demonstrates the innovative power of the students, but also illustrates how STEM knowledge can contribute to the development of rural regions.
Why we have entered into this partnership
We believe that education should not depend on where you live. Unfortunately, many rural schools lack the necessary resources to make STEM lessons exciting and impactful. Through our partnership with The Exploratory, we want to ensure that students in remote areas have access to these important areas of education.
"When we empower the next generation, we are investing in the future of entire communities," explains Michael Fumey, who leads the project at HPW. "With this programme, we want to ensure that children, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to develop their talents and help shape a sustainable future."
Promoting education together
The launch event of the programme, which we organised together with The Exploratory, brought together representatives of the education authorities of the Upper West Akim and Awutu Senya West districts as well as our HPW team. We all share the conviction that this initiative is an important step towards making education in Ghana fairer and more future-orientated.
At HPW, we are not only committed to developing high-quality products, but also to supporting the people who make up our environment. With this partnership, we are making a contribution that goes far beyond the education sector - for a sustainable, better future.
