Future Talents: Shaping the next generation of leaders

The world is changing rapidly and organisations need to evolve to stay competitive. The Future Talents programme is designed to develop the next generation of leaders at HPW. It provides the strategic vision, innovative mindset and collaborative skills needed to successfully tackle the challenges of the future. This initiative is far more than just an event - it is a transformative experience that prepares our emerging leaders for the demands of 2040 and beyond.

The vision behind Future Talents

What will HPW's business world look like in 2040? How will we interact with customers, develop new products and adapt to technological changes? These questions are at the heart of the Future Talents programme. The initiative is based on the following basic principles:

  • Business model innovation - participants are encouraged to develop forward-thinking business ideas.
  • Embracing technological change - Understanding the impact of AI, IoT, Fintech and agronomic advances.
  • Building a network of trust - Creating valuable connections between future leaders from different countries and two continents.
  • Develop strategic leadership skills - Improve decision-making skills through hands-on exercises and case studies.
  • Create a strategic knowledge base - building a foundation that will support HPW's future growth.

The experience:

A three-stage global programme

Phase 1: Uganda - Opening the innovation space (24 February - 2 March 2025)

The first phase of the programme will take place in Uganda where participants will take part in case studies, strategic discussions and interactive learning sessions. Key programme elements:

  • Strategic case studies: examining different companies in different industries and comparing leadership styles.
  • Technology and strategy lectures: Immersion in AI, Fintech, IoT and agronomic innovations that will impact future business models.
  • Practical learning on site: Visit to a dairy company to investigate digitalised milk collection systems and microcredits to increase agricultural productivity.
  • Team building in nature: A hike through a national park, including a gorilla visit and a lake tour to strengthen trust and cooperation among the participants.

Phase 2: Retreat - concept development & strengthening connections

Between the two main events in Uganda and Ghana, participants continue to work on their ideas and refine their strategic visions. This phase serves as a bridge between learning and implementation:

  • Concept Development: the ideas developed in Uganda are further elaborated, deepened and transformed into actionable strategic frameworks.
  • Strengthening international links: The teams formed in Uganda remain closely networked, collaborate digitally and prepare to present their concepts. Their ideas are further sharpened and optimised in the final phase of the Future Talents Initiative.

Phase 3: Ghana - Refining and defending strategic visions (31 March - 4 April 2025)

The third phase of the programme takes place in Ghana. Here, the strategic concepts developed will be further honed and presented. Important programme items:

  • Tour of HPW Ghana facilities: in-depth insight into operations and discussions with key personnel.
  • Strategic scenario development: Teams work together to develop and defend business scenarios and ideas for HPW in 2040.
  • Leadership training: Personalised leadership exercises, feedback sessions and a leadership pledge to reinforce individual vision.
  • University and community visits: Field trips to local universities and producers such as a chocolate factory to understand innovation and social impact in the business environment.
